Reta Alberta Henshaw

Reta Alberta Henshaw - 79, of Aldershot, Kings County, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Scott's Bay, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Jeanette (Greencorn) Thorpe.  She was well-known for her baking skills, especially her sweet rolls. Reta was a kind soul and a real giver within her community. She was everybody's "Nan" and looked after many children in her home. She is survived by four daughters, Carol Wagner, Wolfville; Marlene (Jim Wright) Atwell, Wolfville; Karen (Kendall) Reese, Cambridge; Patricia Robicheau, Aldershot; seven sons, Robert (Esther Barkhouse), Woodville; Alan (Judy), Aldershot; Eric (Ella), New Minas; Lawrence (Serrece Winters), Kentville; Brian (Janet Eye), Centreville; Jeffery, Newfoundland; Scott (Joellen), Centreville; five sisters, Bernice Sanford, Habitant; Myrtle Meister, New Brunswick; Nina Henshaw, Aldershot; Leona Greencorn, Canning; Sheila Cull, New Brunswick; two brothers, Gordon Thorpe, Manitoba; Grant Thorpe, Ontario; grandchildren, Shawn, Ryan, Melissa, Todd, Chad, Patricia, Vanessa, Nicole, Aaron, Samuel, Gregory, Adam, Stephen, Allie, Kristen, Shane, Taylor, Tanya, Lauralee, Nathan, Naomi, Ethena, Rowan and Maddison; great grandchildren, Kayla, Connor, Lauchlin, Thomas, Cobain, Otis, Henry, Ella Rosa, Lily, Elizabeth, Hunter, Colton, Madeline and Serena; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Henshaw; three brothers, Glen, Kenneth and Al. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the QEII Health Foundation - Neurosurgery or the Valley Hospice Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
