Helen Catherine Milne

Helen Catherine Milne – 63, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 14, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville on November 3, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Lola (Manning) Horner. She had been employed at Zeller's Ltd. for several years and then with the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, serving with the Sheriff’s office in Kentville for 27 years. She dedicated her life to her family and her work. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Milne-Bond, Kentville; Andrea (Geoffrey) Creighton, Fall River; a son, Duncan (Ellen Lewis), Kentville; a son-in-law, Bob Bond, Kentville; eight grandchildren, Keegan, Allan, Jacob, Zoe Helen, Jaden, Cohen, Lauren and Ellie; special granddaughter, Sydney Lewis; two sisters, Gail (Clarence) Young, Windsor; Lillian Horner (Reg Myra), Alberta; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Brian Milne; a brother, James "Jim" Horner.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation – Carey-Me Fund, Campaign For Kids or to a charity of your choice. A special thank-you to Dr. Mike Sinclair and the doctors and nurses in the Oncology Unit at the Valley Regional Hospital, as well as all who provided a comfort to Helen with their care, compassion and kindness. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
