Peter J. Cleyle

Peter Joseph Cleyle, P.Eng - It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Peter Cleyle, age 54, on September 13, 2014 in Fort McMurray, Alberta.  Born and raised in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Peter was the only son of the late Victor and Jean (Underwood) Cleyle.  He graduated from Kings County Academy in Kentville, Nova Scotia.  He attended Acadia University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie University) where he graduated with a Masters of Metallurgical Engineering. He worked for Wabush Mines, Wabush, Labrador for 15 years as a Chief Metallurgist, and was currently employed by Suncor Energy, Fort McMurray, Alberta for the past 10 years as a Manager of Process Engineering. Peter’s greatest joy was his two children and he loved bringing them home each summer to the family cottage on Marvin’s Island, Chester Basin.  Peter was an enthusiastic athlete and he was active for many years in the Fort McMurray Minor Hockey Association as a coach and he was also a player in the Fort McMurray Recreational Hockey League. Peter is survived by his two children, Jenna and Jacob Cleyle, Fort McMurray, Alberta; sisters, Joanne Craig, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Linda Cleyle, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Susan Cleyle (Don Duffie) St. John’s, Newfoundland; nieces, Victoria, Lindsay, Thea, Maren and Carys; great niece, Molly, and aunt, Sister Marguerite Hagarty.  He was predeceased by both parents. There will be no visitation by request.  There will be a memorial service on Friday, September 26 at 11:00 AM at White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Nova Scotia with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
