Norma Joan (Allen) Roop - 81, formerly of Aylesford, Kings County, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Hinson and Evelyn (Anderson) Allen. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University and later trained as a Registered Nurse at the Western Ontario School of Nursing. She had been employed at Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, Hants Community Hospital, Windsor and Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. In her earlier years, she enjoyed curling and more recently, golf. She was a member of the Aylesford Baptist Church and especially enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She is survived by four sons, Kevin (Marie), Coldbrook; Gary (Jackie), Windemere; Michael (Trina), Morden; Andrew (Sharon), Kingston; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Lindsay), Aaron, Jennifer, Jonathan, Mallorie (Josh), Justin (Vanessa), Conor and Haley; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Jade and Braxton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald "Norman" Roop; a sister, Doris Milner. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Aylesford Baptist Church, Reverend Clyde Lowe officiating. Burial will take place in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Society (for Myositis Disorder); the Kings County S.P.C.A. or the Canadian Cancer Society.
