Clifford James Hazel

Clifford James Hazel - 76, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at home.  Born in Arlington, Kings County, he was a son of the late Henry and Evelyn (Woodworth) Hazel. In his earlier years, he was employed in trucking and later worked at the Hostess Foods plant in New Minas. He loved to fish, garden and enjoyed caring for the grounds of his property, including the lawns and flowers. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Sweet; a son, Henry, Bedford; two sisters, Marion (Myles) Hazel, Berwick; Vivian Brown, Centreville; a sister-in-law, Jackie Pottie; several nieces and nephews; unofficially adopted daughter, Betty Davis. He will also be missed by Winston, his faithful Boston Terrier companion. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Hughie Brown and Wilfred Pottie; his step-father, Allison Sweet. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Nunn, Dr. Burch and Dr. Gordon as well as the nursing staff in ICU at the Valley Regional Hospital. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Heather Scott of the VON for your care, compassion and kindness. In addition, Jean would like to thank her Video World family for their love and support over the years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
