Hazel Roma Hiltz

Hazel Roma Hiltz - 93, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. Born on November 29, 1920 in New Ross, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Flora (Skerry) Lenihan. Hazel was a perfectionist and took great pride in everything she did. She had an excellent memory and could remember things that happened years ago and the date of which they took place. She had a jovial personality and had a keen interest in things around her. She moved to Kentville in 1940, working at her cousin's restaurant, leaving there in 1941 to work at the Bus Terminal, where she met the love of her life, Roy A. Hiltz (deceased in 2002). They spent the next 61 years together. She went to work in 1953, at the family business of Hiltz Dry Goods Ltd., just to fill in for a couple of weeks. She spent the next 32 years there, retiring in 1985. She is survived by a brother, Webster Lenihan, New Ross; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Roy, she was predeceased by sisters, Inez Mahaney and Margaret Fox; brothers, Beecher, Ralph, Manning, Stan and Clarey. Many thanks to the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for the excellent care they provided. She was very content being there. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of her life, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with Chaplain Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet officiating.
