Kenneth Malcolm George "Ken" Rogers - 95, of Upper Dyke, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berkshire, England, he was a son of the late Grant and Dorothy (Wetherall) Rogers. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas with the 1st Canadian Division (R.C.C.S.). Ken had been involved in contracting and was employed as a carpenter with M.A. Condon and then V.C. Woodworth. He had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville and enjoyed gardening, walking and loved his dogs. He is survived by two daughters, Heather (Leigh) Kent, Centreville ; Doris Nichols, Kentville; a son, Grant, New Minas; a sister, Bernice Schofield, Kentville; six grandchildren, Michele (Laurie) Harding, Aylesford; Michael Rogers, Port Williams; Lesley (Ken) Borden, Upper Dyke; Ian (Tanya) Kent, Saudi Arabia; Bryan (Crystal) Rogers, New Russell; Kevin (Carrie) Nichols, White Rock; nine great grandchildren; his partner, Jennie (Higgins) Metzler, Upper Dyke; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Watt); a sister, Doreen Parker; a brother, Raymond Rogers. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at a later date in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Following the service, burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
