Harold Vincent Dunn 91, New Minas, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 3, 2014 in the QE11, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax. Born on March 7, 1923 in Saint John, NB, Harold was a son of the late Leroy and Edith (Smith) Dunn. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Radar Technician. He served overseas in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and India, sailing from Pier 21 on board the ship Banfora to England in May 1942, returning aboard the liner Ile De France in August 1945. Back from the war Harold became a Meteorologist Technician, giving him the opportunity to travel and work in all major Atlantic airports, a career he enjoyed until his retirement in 1977. Following retirement he continued to work 2 years as manager of the Antigonish Arena. Harold was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 6, Kentville, he was proud to receive his 65 year pin. A member of the Knights of Columbus # 2262 J. Edgar Newell Assembly, Kentville, he held his 4th degree. Harold volunteered for meals on wheels, was an avid bowler for many years, Montreal Canadians hockey fan, loved history and telling stories. Always inquisitive and adventurous with strong determination and commitment throughout his 91 years.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Hilda (Pettipas) (Murphy) Dunn; daughters, Ann Marie Jessulat, Saint John; Marilyn (Willard) Cameron, Country Harbour; Joanne (William "Bill") Hattie, Bedford; Mary (Lorne) Langley, Hardwood Lands; sons, Harold (Debbie), Burton, New Brunswick; Kevin (Sadie), Canaan, Kings County; Stephen (Cathy), Lake Echo; Danny (Rosalyn), Mississauga, Ontario;  sisters, Margaret Doucette, Moncton, New Brunswick; Dorothy Ross and Joan Wall both of Saint John; 18 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; eight step-children; 17 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; several; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elsie (Coyle) Dunn; brothers, William, Donald, Lewis, Roy, Charles and Arthur; two step-children; two step-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 with Royal Canadian Legion Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. and prayers to be held at 8:00 p.m. all in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of V6- Jubilee West at the Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building  for the exceptional care they provided for our loved one over the past two months. Special thank you to Father Bruno Schema and Father John MacPherson for your prayers, kindness and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church or Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
