Carl Vincent Hill

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our father and grandfather, Carl Vincent Hill. He was born July 13, 1934. He passed away, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his family. He was born in Pereau, Kings County. He was the son of the late Oliver and Frances (Baltzer) Hill. He was a former truck driver for Legge’s and finished his employment as a machinist for Hostess Frito-Lay. Carl loved to go camping, fishing and hunting. He also loved wood working. He is survived by three daughters, Sheila (Tom) Allen, Cindy (Bruce) Millett and Mary (Russell) Gammon; two sons, Dale (Tracie) Hill and David (Karen) Hill; their mother, Ellen (Lombard) Hill, all of Canning; a son, Carl Benjamin, Sheffield Mills; a daughter, Irlene Strong, Medford; a sister, Lavinia (George) Roy, Canning; brothers, Donald (Freda) Hill, Centreville; Gene (Jean) Hill, Canning; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his common-law wife, Marilyn (Briggs) MacInnis; five sisters, Rose Viner, Eva Weldon, Dolena Hill, Mildred Adams, Maxine Benjamin; two brothers, Oliver Hill and Alexander Hill. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. A special thank you to Carl's best friend Jim Malcolm and to Dr. David Nunn, Janice Nunn, Dr. Julia Merryweather and the nurses and staff of Valley Regional Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
