Shirley Elizabeth  Borden

Shirley Elizabeth Borden - 80, of New Minas, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at home. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Norris and Annie (Sweet) Hawboldt. She had been employed as an Insurance Agent, retiring from J.G. Veinot Insurance. She later volunteered at the information counter in the Valley Regional Hospital. She dedicated her life to her family. She is survived by five daughters, Mary (Charles) Eaton, Canard; Anne Borden (John Craik), Red Deer; Kim (Vernon) Ells, Black River; Judy Borden, New Minas; Jennifer (Chris) Corkum, Stony Plain, AB; three sons, Fred (Joan), Black River Lake; Lionel (Debbie), Onslow; Jerry, Amherst; four sisters, Claire (Harry) Coggar, Windsor; Faye (Jack) Calder, Kentville; Kaye Hawboldt-Allen, Halifax; Patricia (Bryan) Morrison, Centreville; five brothers, Laurie (Dorothy), Halifax; Garnet, Dartmouth; Ernest (Evelyn), Kentville; Andrew (Genevieve), Leduc; Stephen (Sharon), Granville Ferry; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James "Jim"; two brothers, Charles and Jack. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 in the Canard Community Church, Canard, Reverend Bob Wallace officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
