Elizabeth Jane Chisholm

Elizabeth Jane Chisholm - 88, of Lower Canard, Kings County, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Granville Beach, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Irvine and Nina Belle (Andrews) Armstrong. She worked several years at the Kentville Research Station before becoming a Registered Nurse and working as secretary for the Victorian Order of Nurses. She was involved in the operation of the family apple orchard and enjoyed raising her family. Elizabeth also served on the board of L'Arche Homefires. She is survived by three daughters, Anne (Clem) Kehoe, Lower Canard; Barbara (Graydon) Mitchell, Kingsport; Carol (Tony) Hadjisterkoti, Lower Canard; two sons, Scott (Deborah) Chisholm, Lower Canard; Kenneth (Marcia) Chisholm, Hantsport; a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Slauenwhite, Newmarket, Ontario; a brother, Donald Andrews Armstrong, Granville Beach; nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; two brothers, Wilfred Armstrong and David Armstrong. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 with prayers to be held at 6:30 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 27, 2014 in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Canning, Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ridge Road, Wolfville. A reception will follow in the White Family Funeral Home. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to L'Arche Homefires or the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
