Dora Dean Walker

Dora Dean Walker - 88, of New Minas, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Colin and Ruby (Sanford) Zwicker. She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in Halifax with the Canadian Women's Army Corps. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville and also volunteered for many years with the Valley Regional Hospital. She is survived by her partner, Gerald Sanford; a daughter, Rose Marie Cummings, British Columbia; a son, Frank Walker, Alberta; a brother, Eugene Zwicker; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Walker; two daughters, Joanne Halverson and Ralane Graham; a sister, Hilda Schofield; two brothers, Colin Zwicker and Kenneth Zwicker. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. A private family burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
