Dorothy Marilyn Gratto

Dorothy Marilyn Gratto - 64, of New Minas, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John and Frances (Haines) James. Dorothy had a deep rooted faith and was active in the many churches she served with her husband. She was a pianist, Sunday school teacher and worked with the deaf and hard of hearing as an interpreter and teacher. She devoted her time to her  family and especially loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Tony Gratto; a daughter, Susanne (Christopher) Miller, Lantz; a son, John (Cheryl), Lower Sackville; a sister, Susan (Neil) Arbeau, Moncton; eight grandchildren, Amelia, Anthony, Alexander, Andrew, Aleah, Adrianna, Elisabeth Rose, and David John; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant brother, David John. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Calvary Tabernacle, 20 Gesner Street, Halifax, Bishop John Mean officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. A reception will follow in the church hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Calvary Tabernacle Building Fund or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
