WELL KNOWN KENTVILLE RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Jacqueline Roberta "Jackie" Russell - 84, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Shannex - Orchard Court, Kentville.  Born in Lakeville, she was the daughter of the late Pern A. and Annie V. (Spittal) Illsley. She attended Lakeville school and graduated from Mack Business College, Kentville. She had been employed as Personal Secretary of the Administrator of the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital and later the Valley Regional Hospital for several years. Jackie was a member of the Kentville Baptist Church, where she had been an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, No. 15, Kentville, a charter member of the T.O.P.S. program and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department. She was an avid bowler and loved shopping. She is survived by two brothers, Harmon (Joyce) Illsley, Kentville and John Illsley, Lakeville; four sisters-in-law, Mazie Russell, Kentville; Freda (Ken) Fredericks, Coldbrook; Ruth Illsley, Kentville; Carthel Illsley, Kentville; a brother-in-law, Floyd (Mary Ella) Russell, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Beverly "Bev" Russell; a brother, Francis Illsley; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Russell and John McGee. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend Judith Tod officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
