Bram Lohr

Bram Lohr - 83, of Canning, Kings County, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Westerbork, The Netherlands, he was a son of the late Johannas and Jantje (Haayer) Lohr. After immigrating to Canada, he established a farm in the Canning area. He served as a deacon in the Pentecostal church and enjoyed playing the accordion. He enjoyed inventing and building machines and had a number of his creations published in various magazines. He is survived by his wife, the former Jacoba deVisser; a daughter, Janet Elizabeth (Jan) Schuringa, The Netherlands; a son, John (Heather) Lohr, Canning; a sister, Dina, The Netherlands; four granddaughters, Jessica, Elizabeth, Heleen and Lora; three grandsons, Justin, Aaron and Benjamin; a great grandson, Joshua; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Henry James Lohr; two grandsons, Jared Abraham Lohr and Caleb John Lohr; a brother, Berend. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Kingsway Assembly, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014, Reverend Terry Penney and Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Burial will take place in the Habitant Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
