John Christoffel den Hollander

Reverend John Christoffel den Hollander Sr. - 81, of Waterville, Kings County, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Holland, he was a son of the late Gerrit and Nellie (Van Ouwerkerk) den Hollander. In his earlier years, he had been employed as an electrician. He then served as a Minister in the Wesleyan Church, serving in Lower Brighton, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his wife, the former Gerrie Verhey; a daughter, Marilyn den Hollander, HRM; three sons, Reverend John (Cindy), Gerald (Nancy) and Daniel (Sylvia), all of HRM; two sisters, Nellie (Max), HRM; Maria, British Columbia; two brothers, Denny (Trudy), HRM; Henry (Venita), Orillia, Ontario; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Wilma (in infancy); two sons, Paul and James (in infancy); a brother, Bastiaan. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville (100 Cornwallis Street, Kentville), Reverend John den Hollander Jr. and Reverend Clyde Lowe officiating. Burial will take place in the Canard Burial Ground, Kings County. Following the burial, a reception will be held in the White Family Funeral Home. Donations in memory may be made to the Gideon Bible Society. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Grand View Manor for their kindness and support over the years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
