James Lawrence "Jim" Lindh

1948-2015

James Lawrence "Jim" Lindh

It is with great sadness that we, the family of James "Jim" Lindh announce his passing at the age of 66 on January 5th at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia. Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois, and his father’s career in the United States Army took Jim’s family to many areas of the United States and Germany. After graduating from William Jennings Bryan College in Tennessee and from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, Jim taught middle school music for three years in Easton, Maryland before immigrating to Canada. After arriving in Canada, he taught for two years at Amherst Regional High School before becoming the music director at Central Kings Rural High in Cambridge for thirty-six years. Jim was devoted to family, friends, and community, and his passion for teaching meant that his students were a central focus in all he did. For Jim, teaching music was all about sharing his passion for music with his students so they might be inspired to achieve. In addition to his music teaching, Jim developed and taught Nova Scotia’s first Medical Technology program at CK, motivating many students to pursue medical careers. Jim was a dedicated first aid volunteer with the Red Cross, for the Canadian Ski Patrol, and at CK sports events; and he was a long standing judge for the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Parade. Jim will be forever remembered by his wife, Darlene (Boss); daughter, Sarah and son, Ryan (Michelle Marcinkiewicz). He is also survived by his mother, Eleanore (Reiser); brothers, John, Tom and David Lindh, all of the United States. He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence J. Lindh (a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army). Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:01 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Red Cross. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
