Dirk Foon Hum

Dirk Foon Hum - 84, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home. Born in China, he was a son of the late Yui and Soon (Lee) Hum. He lived most of his life in the Annapolis Valley and was well known in the Kentville area for his work with the China Kitchen Restaurant. In recent years, he could be seen walking in Coldbrook with cane in hand, feeding the birds. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Davidson, Coldbrook; three sons, Tim (Jean), Ontario; Steven (Christina), New Brunswick; Jim (Ying), Coldbrook; 12 grandchildren, Linda (Lloyd) Butt, Carol (Danny) Bezanson, Sandy (Scott) Bent, Jamie Davidson, Lucas Hum, Jeremy Hum, Beatrice Hum, Tony (Garman) Hum, Sharon (Bevis) Tong, Bonnie (RJ) Forbes, Amy (Wayne) Cross and Gordon Hum; 10 great grandchildren, Travis, Matthew, Andrew, Tommy, Tanner, Zoey, Tobe, Drake, Jet and Awna. He was predeceased by his wife, Kam Lin (Lee) Hum; a brother, Ya Hum. A private family gathering will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
