Margery Joan Crowe

Margery Joan (Cunningham) Crowe - age 89 (May 10, 1925 - February 5, 2015), of Wolfville, passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Daughter of Harold Cunningham and Agnes May Simpson, Joan is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Dr. (PhD) A. David Crowe; son, D. Vance (Michal); daughter, Phyllis Crowe Best (Ron); grandson, Kerry Coolen; granddaughters, Colleen Coolen Carruthers (Drew) and Stephanie Peskett (John); her sister, Phyllis (Cunningham) McKibbin;  great grandchildren, Tyler and Mitchell Peskett, Kaelly Coolen, Cameron and Aria Carruthers; nieces, Donna, Karen and Marie McKibbin. Joan's family was extremely important to her and she valued all the time spent together. Joan studied Home Economics at MacDonald College, where she met her husband David. They raised their family in Kentville and Wolfville. Afterwards Joan worked as a secretary at Acadia University in the Math Department. In her spare time  she was very active in the Girl Guides and became a Commissioner for many years and was a life member of Girl Guides of Canada. She enjoyed her cottage at Lumsden Dam, as well as swimming, playing bridge and other games, skiing, travel and handcrafts. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and reception will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Robyn Brown-Hewitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearts on Ice,  Heart and Stroke Foundation, Valley Regional Hospital, Hardwood Lake Girl Guide Camp, or a charity of your choice. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff  in Emergency and on the Medical A floor at Valley Regional Hospital as well as Dr. M. McMillan for extending thoughtful and ceaseless nursing care to help Joan during her brief stay in hospital.
