William James "Bill" Andrews

William James "Bill" Andrews – 91, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Winterton, Trinity Bay, NL, he was a son of the late Esau and Selena (Hiscock) Andrews. He worked on the United States Air Force Base in Greenland during the Second World War. He had been employed with the Toronto Transit Commission as Building Superintendent and later worked for various office buildings as a stationary engineer – specializing in heat and air conditioning. He was a member of the Cambridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Grace Nickerson; a daughter, Betty Jane (Richard) Gilbert, Ontario; a son, William Jr. (Tracey), Ontario; a brother, Alwyn (Ruby), Moncton, NB; a sister-in-law, Millicent Andrews, NL; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Meghan, Jim, Donna, Tracey, Richard, Amanda Christine and Pamela; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rachael Gusher; a daughter, Linda Stockwood; a sister, Clara; six brothers, Roy, Andrew, Cyril, Wilson, Ralph and Alexander. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Darryl Dykens officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Winterton. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Annapolis Valley Health Network, especially the caring and compassionate nurses of Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital and the Transitional Care Unit of Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Cambridge Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
