Milford Herman Pierce

Milford Herman Pierce - 88, of Kings Riverside Court, Kentville, formerly of Grafton, Kings County passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Milford and Myrtle (Brown) Pierce. He graduated from NSAC, Truro and later obtained his BSc from MacDonald College, Quebec and a BEd from Acadia University. He began his teaching career in Centreville, New Brunswick and later taught in Ironbound, Dartmouth and Central Kings Rural High School, Cambridge. He then ran the family farm, establishing one of the first u-pick blueberry operations in the area, becoming known as "Mr. Blueberry". He is survived by two sisters, Verna Pierce, Kings Riverside Court; Phyllis Turner, Victoria, BC; dear friend, Norma Westgate, London, Ontario; several nieces and nephews; many special friends at Kings Riverside Court. He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Schurman and Helena Porter. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
