Elaine Claire Reid

Elaine Claire Reid - 81, of Kentville, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Eleanor (Ritchie) Burton. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her children, Michelle Reid, David (Sue) Reid, Tami (Blaine) Lockhart and Janine (Kevin) Cochrane; grandchildren, Amy (Ernest) Young, Zachary (Hilary) Arenburg, Chelsey (Jordan) Bent, Lucas Reid and Jillian Cochrane; great grandchildren, Jackson and Annabelle Arenburg and Aaron and Kara Young; sisters-in-law, Diane (Les) McClare and Mary Reid; cousins (like sisters), Frona, Bonnie, Myrna, Eleanor and Debbie. She attended Kings County Academy. After high school she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Reid and worked at Ripley’s Shoe Store in Kentville, leaving to raise a family. Elaine was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, where in earlier years she served on the Parish Council and taught Sunday School. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Leslie Reid; sister, Bobbie Burton; brother, Rand Burton; brothers-in-law, David and Gerry Reid; sister-in-law, Joanne Reid. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral mass and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Cardiac Rehab Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
