Donald William  Wallace

WALLACE, Donald William - 81, New Minas, Kings County died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 28, 2015. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Vaughn) Wallace. He is survived by Judy Saunders; his three sons, Gregory Wallace, Kentville; Jeffrey Wallace, Wolfville and Bill (Sally) Wallace, Wolfville; their mother, Eva Wallace, Wolfville; four grandchildren, Brock, Drew, Sasha and Keeley; great grandson, Rhodes; brother, Perry Wallace (Pam Petrie), Halls Harbour; sister, Shirley Carey, Avonport and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Phyllis and an infant sister, Audrey.

Don had the true heart of an entrepreneur with many achievements during his lifetime. He will best be remembered for being the driving force behind the development of the Old Orchard Inn in Greenwich, the Slumber Inn in New Minas and Canaan Heights Subdivision in New Minas. He took great pride in his work and in the many staff and friends his business interests brought to his life.

In keeping with his final wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and private family interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. No flowers by request. Special thanks to Dr. Burch, the palliative care team, the VON and in particular Jana Bennett. Donations in Don's memory would be welcomed by the ALS Society of Nova Scotia or the Valley Regional Hospital - Carey Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home) or the VON.
