Eleanor L. Misner

Misner, Eleanor Louise - 82 of Kentville, Kings County died peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Born in Harbourville, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Genevieve (McComiskey) Swindell. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, David Misner; a daughter, Julie (Alan) Sewards, New Minas; two sons, Gordon (Deborah Prior-Misner), Viroqua, Wisconsin, and Donald, Kentville; three grandchildren, Lori and Tara, New Minas; David (Amanda Acker) Sewards, Coldbrook; four great grandchildren, whom she adored and were the joy in her life, Nicole, Justin, Sophia, and Landen; sisters, Muriel Douglas, Bridgewater and Audrey Bligh, Berwick; many nieces and nephews. Eleanor worked for many years at Palmeters Nursing Home, Kentville, where she completed her PCW course, the Wolfville Nursing Home and retired from Wedgewood House, Kentville to care for her 104 year old mother and later mother-in-law.  She loved her time with family and friends, playing cards games such as Uno, 45's, and Ramoli. In her early years, she enjoyed going camping and most recently going to the cottage. She was a lover of animals, and could be seen with her pal, Rocky by her side. She always had a smile and sense of humour that will never be forgotten. Loved and in our hearts forever, rest in peace. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lloyd and Lawrence; brothers-in-law, Nelson Douglas and Tom Bligh. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Mulherin, Dr. Anne Berry, Michael  and the nurses on Med B at Valley Regional Hospital and to Greg White and the staff of White Family Funeral Home for their care, kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice.
