Marion Romaine Irving

Marion Romaine (Beck) Irving - 81, of Halifax and Huntington Point, Kings County, died peacefully at Northwood Center, Halifax, March 13, 2015 of complications following a stroke. Born in Halifax, August 12, 1933, she was the elder daughter of the late John Melvin and Rita Helena (Roche) Beck. She attended College St. School, Convent of the Sacred Heart and the Vocational School. She enjoyed her summers at the family cottage "IDLE HOUR" in Shad Bay. Marion was an avid bowler, curler and swimmer. She was employed in the business community retiring from the Business Development Bank as Personnel Assistant to the Regional General Manager in 1978. Marion and Frank divided their retirement years between their Halifax home and their cottage at Huntington Point where she swam daily in the Bay of Fundy. Marion enjoyed travel, from her Asian Tour and EXPO 70,  to her many trips with Frank to the Caribbean, Florida, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and Alaska. Marion is survived by her husband, Frank; sister, Sheila (late William) Fraser, Halifax; brother, Donald (Catherine) Beck of Torbrook Mines, NS, and twelve nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brother, Cyril Melvin (late Margaret Nunn) Beck and nephew, Phillip. The remains are resting at the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville,  where visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyr's Roman Catholic Church on Inglis St. in Halifax at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, Father Owen Connolly officiating. Reception will follow the Mass. Interment will be later at Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, CHALICE Christian Child Care International, 68 Main St., Springhill, NS B0M 1X0 or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
