Louis Wesley Rand

Louis Wesley Rand - 68, of Arlington, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Kathleen (Benjamin) Rand, Canning and the late Rufus W. Rand. He had been employed in logging camps in British Columbia, with Canadian Tire in Ontario, and also worked for G.K. Morse Trucking and H.B. Legge Transport. He enjoyed carving (especially air planes) and repairing lawn mowers, tractors and other things. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and lying on the floor playing with his granddaughter, whom he called his little doll. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen (Henshaw) Rand; a daughter, Jennifer (Norman) Leggett, Canning; a son, Steven W. Rand, Canning; a granddaughter, Savannah (Grampie's Doll); four grandsons, Alex, Cameron, Rowan and Caleb; five sisters, Joyce MacDonald (Floyd), Canning; Irene Sanford (Daniel), Alberta; Marlee Rand (Ron), New Minas; Lois Conway (Stella), New Minas; Sherry Rand, Kentville; four brothers, Alvin (Donna), Canning; Calvin (Trudi), Canning; Richard (Melody), Canning; David (Bertha), British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Jean Thompson; a brother, Rufus W. Rand Jr.; a nephew, Jason B. Rand. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Lieutenant Josh Downer officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Arlington Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
