Dorothy Helene Dodwell

Dorothy Helene "Cyd" Dodwell - 87, of Middleton. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on December 24, 1927 in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Hanson) George. She was most recently living in Middleton with her family. She loved her family and her devotion to her children was unsurpassed. She was a happy, hard working woman who provided for her family. She worked in local farms and industries and enjoyed harvesting apples in the fall. She was a kind and gentle soul who helped many people throughout her life and was contented with little. It was an honour knowing her. She was great at decorating, her house always felt warm and welcoming. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved to make dolls and teddy bears and sewing clothes for them. She also enjoyed skating, skiing, and walking on the beach. Her fondest memories were from her childhood in Delhaven. She loved to spend time with her family and adored her father and loved her mother. Although she is gone, her memory will live on in our hearts. She is survived by four sons, Gary, Vietnam; Robert, New Minas; David, Alberta; Richard (Johanne Perreault), Middleton; a sister, Colleen (Frank) MacNeil, Coldbrook; two brothers, Robert Sr. (Shirley), Truro and Darryl (Sylvia), Blomidon; a brother-in-law, Wesley MacBride, Canning; grandchildren, Kathleen, Gary, Matthew, Tina, Tammy, Robert, Michael, Brenda, Brian, Joseph, Charlene, Jason, Kelly, Tara, Sara, RJ and Joey-John; many great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was separated from her late husband, James Dodwell of British Columbia for many years. She was also predeceased by a son, Brian and a son, in infancy; a grandson, Andrew; two sisters, Caroline (in infancy) and Roberta "Bubsy" MacBride; a brother, John. Cremation has taken place.
