Alma Faye Giffin - 89, of Church Street, Port Williams, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late William and Harriett (Irvine) Bagnell. She studied nursing and graduated as an RN from "The Old Aberdeen Hospital" in New Glasgow. She later nursed at the Aberdeen and was a dedicated volunteer with CGIT and the former Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. She worked for many years with the Annapolis Valley Chapter of the Schizophrenia Society. She is survived by three children, Gail Proudfoot (Mahagie Madden), Arichat; Scott Proudfoot (Sheila Rose), Ottawa and Rhuland I. Proudfoot; a sister, Gloria Bagnell, Toronto; a brother, David Bagnell, Truro; five grandchildren, Alice Gruber, Rhuland S. Proudfoot; Shauna Tourneur, Terry Cash and Sarah MacDougall; a great grandchild, Renee Tourneur; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Rhuland B. Proudfoot; her second husband, Oscar "Mac" Giffin; four sisters, Avis McGill, Gert Fraser, Bessie Stokes and Opal McAndrews; three brothers, Bob, James "Jimmy" and Robert "Jack" Bagnell. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation or service by request. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Bob Mullen and his staff as well as the staff of Valley Regional Hospital for their ongoing care and support. Donation in memory may be made to the Schizophrenia Society or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
