Laura Theresa Frost

Laura Theresa Frost - 87, of New Minas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS. She was born on January 6, 1928 in Waterford, NS. Laura was predeceased by her parents, Mary (Robicheau) and Watson Lewis; her first husband, John R. "Jack" Nichols (31 years); son, John R. Nichols; granddaughter, Michelle Kennedy; brothers, Elwin, Ashton, Darrell, Fred, Henry, Lovett, Joseph and Charlie; sisters, Viva and Hazel. She is survived by her spouse, James Frost (34 years) of New Minas, NS; her daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Roger) Tweedy (Grant, Nichols), Kentville, NS and Barbara (Leo) Nichols-Kennedy, Halifax, NS; step-children, Rodney Frost, Thompson, MB and Louise (Brian) Oliver, Annapolis, NS. She is also survived by a sister, Ida Quinlan, Sudbury, ON and two brothers, James (Nancy) Lewis, Rossway, NS and Gordon (Joan) Lewis, Fenelon Falls, ON; grandchildren, Scott Grant, Oakville, ON; Ian Kennedy, Montreal, PQ; John Nichols, Grande Prairie, AB; Angela Nichols, Amsterdam; Courtney Oliver, Annapolis Royal and Justin Oliver, Bridgetown; great grandchildren, Riley Cook, Digby, NS and Colin Frost, Dartmouth, NS, along with many nieces and nephews. Laura enjoyed life, had a great sense of humour, loved to travel, enjoyed curling, golfing, and playing cards. She took pride in her beautiful gardens and loved all her family, especially her grandchildren. She owned and operated the Tea Cup Inn and Nick’s Snack Bar, worked at the Canadian Tire, Kingfisher Motel and managed the dietary services at Tideview Terrace, all in Digby. She was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church. Thank you to all the VON workers and hospital staff, doctors and nurses that treated her during her illness with dignity, respect and compassion. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at the Kentville United Baptist Church, 503 Main Street, Kentville, NS at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015. A private burial will take place at the Digby Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
