John William Fuller

It is with deepest sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved John Fuller, on July 2nd 2015, age 88, of North Medford. Born in Reasby, Leicestershire, England, he was one of two sons of seven children to the late Alfred and Jessie Fuller. John is survived by three sisters, Nellie of New Glasgow; Joan of Alberta and Mary of New Brunswick. He also is survived by three sons, Tony and Shirley of Port Williams; Robert and Anita of Sydney, Cape Breton and David and Diane of Blomidon; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews of Canada and England. John was predeceased by his soul mate of 67 years, Betty (Steel), parents, sisters, Jessie and Doris, and brother, Ralph. John left school the day he turned fourteen to work on a dairy farm in South Croxton, which was in the village where he grew up. John immigrated to Canada, with his wife Betty and two young sons, arriving in Halifax at Pier 21 in 1953. When John immigrated to Canada, he worked with his brother Ralph at George Chase Farms, working in orchards. After working alongside his brother Ralph, he purchased his own farm in Pereau. Over the early years as a farmer, John produced pork, dairy, table eggs and cash crops. In later years, the focus on the farm was chickens and turkeys with some cash crops. John was a member of the Nova Scotia Turkey Producers Marketing Board. He became a member of the board in 1973. He served on a number of committees at the board level, and was Chairman of the board from 1985-1987. John was one of the founding members of Fuller Family Farms Inc. which is still in business today focusing on chicken and grain production. John was a very honest, sincere and compassionate person. His inspiration was not only his wife, but also his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place.
