Daniel Carroll "Dan" Gates

Daniel Carroll "Dan" Gates - 49, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at home, following a brief and brave battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, Dan grew up in New Glasgow and was a son of Rita (Hiltz) (Gates) Seaboyer, New Ross and the late Carroll Gates. Since moving to the valley, Dan owned and operated Balcom Distribution (2008). Dan enjoyed many of his daughters interests over the years and attending games and coaching his son's basketball team. In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by his wife, Tracey (Corbett); a daughter, Hannah, Windsor; a son, Matthew, Windsor; a step-son, Kyle Corbett (Trenda), Coldbrook; a sister, Karen (Steve) Young, Vancouver Island; step-father, Ken Seaboyer, New Ross; step-grandchildren, Meia-Leigh and Aleigha-Jean; aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of life and reception will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Judith Saunders officiating. A private family burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the New Ross Baptist Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
