Wayne Douglas Melvin

Wayne Douglas Melvin - 53, of Meteghan, formerly of Canning, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Blake Melvin and Myrna (Wood) Melvin. He had been employed with Canard Poultry for many years and then Tiger Calcium, Alberta for a number of years. He then returned home to his roots where he enjoyed lobster fishing. He loved to play baseball and ball hockey within his community. In addition to his parents, he is survived by four daughters, Sarah (J.R.), Chester; Denise (Robbie), Kentville; Jill, Kentville; Brandy, Centreville; former spouse, Joanne Gillis; three sisters, Ann Marie (Greg), Kentville; June (Gerald), Oxford; Patricia (Eric), Slave Lake, Alberta; two brothers, George (Cheryl), Pereau; Dale (Barb), Sheffield Mills; special brother-in-law, Robin O'Brien; seven grandchildren, Brady, Brooklyne, Cohen, Riley, Sophie, Kelsea and Jordan; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Meteghan Park Development Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
