Sydney Burnard Corbin

Sydney Burnard Corbin - 84, of Kentville, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was the son of the late George P. and Alma Kathleen (Acker) Corbin. He had been employed at the Nova Scotia Sanatorium for 40 years until it's closure, followed by the BFM and then retiring from the Valley Regional Hospital at age 65. Sydney was also a patient of the Nova Scotia Sanatorium for 18 months, while he recovered from TB. He is survived by three daughters, Tina (Johnny), Rose (Tim), both of Kings County; Susan (Andrew), ON; six sons, Robert (Sylvia), Douglas, Wayne, Terry (Darryl), Eugene (Louise) and Cecil (Carrie), all of Kings County; three sisters, Florence, Fredericton; Evelyn, ON, Polly, Halifax; five brothers, Gary, Ernest, both of Kentville; Eugene, ON; Vincent, Calgary; Gerald, Kentville; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his second wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Seretha; a son, Earl in infancy; a sister, Mary; brother, Edgar and grandson, Robert. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. The family wishes to thank the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for all they have done for dad while he resided there. A special thank you to the girls who work on New East. No flowers by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
