Barbara Anne "Barbie" Reid

Barbara Anne "Barbie" Reid - 68, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born in Halifax on April 24, 1947. Up until the age of 11 she lived with foster parents, Cecil and Grace Corkum and from the age of 12 to 21 she lived with foster parents, Leverette and Mildred "Arlie" Boyd. After a brief stay in the Wolfville Nursing Home, Barbie became a long-time resident of Evergreen Home for Special Care, where she enjoyed taking part in the resident's activities. Christmas was a very special time of year and she especially loved the visits to the home of Mary Lee and Roger Eisnor. One of Barbie's favorite past times was listening to country music and gospel music. She always had  time for a little prayer for everybody else and was so thoughtful and encouraging to others. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, playing cards, especially 45's and writing poems.  She is survived by two foster sisters, Margaret (Wendell) Pineo, Kingston; Mary Lee (Roger) Eisnor, Torbrook Mines; two foster brothers, David (Louise) Boyd, Barrie, Ontario; Michael Boyd (partner, Heather Fisher), Dartmouth; several foster nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, Reverend Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet, Chaplain officiating. Burial will take place in the West Halls Harbour Cemetery. Barbie was so blessed to know so many people who opened their hearts and homes to her. As a family we would like to express our thanks to the staff and volunteers  of Evergreen Home for Special Care who have given Barbie  a wonderful life.   Donations in memory may be made to the Evergreen Home for Special Care - Resident's Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
