Richard Alexander "Rick" Cameron

Richard Alexander "Rick" Cameron - age 72, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre – VG Site, Halifax, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Thunder Bay, he was a son of the late Margaret (Nichols) Doust. Rick served with the Canadian Navy for 11 years and was employed selling real estate with his wife for several years, later driving long haul truck from where he retired due to ill health. In retirement, he served as a guard at the Valley Regional Hospital. Rick was a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon, former choir member and served on many committees. He was a former member of Scotia Masonic Lodge No. 28, Canning and later affiliated with Kentville Masonic Lodge No. 58 AF & AM. He was a Past President of the Kentville Chapter of the Kidney Foundation. Together, with his wife Karen, Rick maintained an active social life, playing cards, washer toss, darts, dice and entertaining. He genuinely enjoyed being with people. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Lantz); children, Blair Cameron, Eastern Passage; Treka (Dana) Chaffey, Houston, Texas; Pamela Lyghtle, Thunder Bay; Melody (George) Swanton, Thunder Bay; Betty-Joe (Stephen) Eye, Canning;  a half brother, Roy Doust, Thunder Bay; step-sister, Irma Jarrett, Alberta; step-brother, Ron Doust, White Rock; half-sisters, Jan, British Columbia; Archbishop Laurie Munro, Dawson City and Sheila Bush, British Columbia; grandchildren, Whitney (Randy) Touesnard, Cameron Burke, Bradley (Mihaela) Swanton, Kailey (Phil) Sabean, Ricky (Rebecca) Manning, Dylan (Ashley) Manning, Travis Eye; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his step-father, Alfred Doust. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request.  The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
