Ronald Gerald "Ron" Pellerine
Ronald Gerald "Ron" Pellerine

Ronald Gerald "Ron" Pellerine passed peacefully at his home in Berwick on November 28, 2019 at the age of 75, with his loving wife, Colette, by his side. Born on November 15, 1944 in Halifax to William and Diana Pellerine, Ron was the eldest of 13 children. He enjoyed a happy childhood, growing up in the busy and much-loved family home on Creighton Street.  In 1967 at the age of 23, Ron began a long and proud career serving his country with the Royal Canadian Air Force, as an Aircraft Engine Technician. Not long afterwards, while posted to Greenwood Nova Scotia, he met and married the love of his life, Colette, and started a family of his own.  Ron and Colette were blessed with two busy boys, Trevor and Troy, and spent many happy years making a home wherever the Air Force sent them.  Ron was a proud "Papa" of five incredible grandchildren and enjoyed spending his retirement years watching them grow and pursue their passions. Ron loved his life.  In his younger years, he enjoyed curling and hockey.  He was an avid reader and puzzle solver.  He was proud to boast that there was no jigsaw puzzle he couldn’t complete.  On Saturday nights, Ron could often be found watching hockey and waiting for Don Cherry’s Coach’s Corner. Ron treasured family game nights and was tough to beat at Scrabble and Scattergories, although his grandchildren still had the upper hand with Just Dance. Ron was known by all who loved him for his stubbornness, and in true Ron-style, he battled his declining health with tenacity.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, Colette (Blackwood); sons, Trevor (Philippa) of St. Thomas, ON and Troy of Tantallon and his five grandchildren, Maxwell, Alexa, Sophie, Camden and Tessa. Ron will also be missed by his brothers and sisters and their families: Claude, Robert (Linda); John (Linda); Eileen; Brian (Fran); Peter (Karen); Mike (Debbie); Sylvia; Janet (Tommy); Juliet (Eddie); Keith (Marilyn). He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Wayne. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A funeral mass to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019 in St. Anthony’s of Padua Roman Catholic Church Berwick, Reverend Father Keith Billard and Deacon Dave Hasler officiating.  Following mass, interment will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. After the interment, friends and family are invited to a reception at the parish hall to share their memories or stories of Ron’s life. Ron’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Daniel Woo, Dr. Judith Puetz, Tara Dubuc and the palliative care team for their compassionate and expert care throughout Ron’s journey.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
