Ernest "Ernie" Draper

Ernest "Ernie" Draper – age 70, of Port Williams, passed away in the Valley Regional Hospital on December 5, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Windsor, NS on February 19, 1949, he was the son of George and Rosamond (Dimock) Draper. After graduating from Windsor Regional High School, Ernie moved to Toronto where he began a 36 year career with Canada Customs. He married Susan Surette in 1978 and the couple returned to Nova Scotia where Ernie continued his career in Kentville and Halifax. He retired in 2004. Ernie subsequently enjoyed 15 years of family time, travel and fitness pursuits, even including a part-time job at Woods Limousine for five of those years. Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Susan Surette-Draper; dear son, Alex (Charlotte Warren), Toronto; sisters, Dorothy Phillips, Winnipeg, Gloria (Carl Hick), New Minas, Brenda (Mike Faucette), Kitchener, Gina (Ken Burns), Windsor; brothers, Blaine (Mary), Moncton, Bryan (Linda), Port Williams, Kenny (Linda), Moncton, Gary (Kim), Halifax; 23 nieces and nephews are left to fondly remember time spent and treats enjoyed with their Uncle Ernie. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Judy (Cory Ozon, Truro). Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in The Covenanter Church, 1989 Grand-Pre Road, Grand Pré, Reverend Don Sellsted officiating. A reception will be held in the Horton Community Centre (Hortonville). Burial will take place at a later date in the Sainte Anne Cemetery, Ste-Anne du Ruisseau. Family flowers only, by request.
