Alan Wesley "Al" Bernard

Alan Wesley "Al" Bernard - age 79, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, December 9, 2019, in Orchard Court – Shannex, Kentville. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late James and Ruby (Drillon) Bernard. He was a well-known entertainer and magician having turned his hobby into a full-time career performing throughout the Maritime Provinces for audiences of all ages. He had been an active member of the New Minas Baptist Church for 30 years. Al enjoyed meeting people whether they were at the mall, Tim Horton’s or when greeting people at the church door. A great encourager, he always enjoyed giving his time to others including reading with the students at New Minas Elementary School. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol (Crossman), Kentville; daughters, Angela MacDonald (Fred Outerleys) New Glasgow; Pamela (Jeff) Spinney, Port Williams; grandchildren, Matthew Spinney, Emma Spinney and Ryan Spinney, all of Port Williams; sister, Linda Bernard, Riverview; brother, Gordon (Mary) Bernard, Moncton; nieces, nephews and extended family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the New Minas Baptist Church, Reverend Daniel Cormier officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
