Richard Terry Allen

September 18, 1949 - January 13, 2020

Richard Terry "Dick" Allen - age 70, of Lumsden Dam, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 13, 2020, after living courageously through a battle with cancer. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Charles Allen and Lois Beatrice (Morine) Russell. After graduating from Cornwallis District High School, Dick furthered his studies at Acadia University, graduating in 1973. He began his career with Nova Scotia Power soon after, and retired in 2012 after 38 years of dedicated service. Throughout his life, Dick stayed involved in sports. He enjoyed "catching the game" on TV, watching his children and grandchildren play and participating himself in hockey, darts and bowling. He’d never turn down a round of golf. Dick made many memories while travelling and camping with his family. Dressing up as Santa at his family’s Christmas party as well as setting off an amazing fireworks display with his son Robert during the summer on Medford Beach brought Dick so much joy and laughter. Dick leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Barb (Meisner), Lumsden Dam; daughter, Amy vanKippersluis (Jody), Falmouth; son, Robert, Lumsden Dam; granddaughters, Alina and Adelaide vanKippersluis; sisters, Gayleen Connelly (Ken Toth), Kitchener; Gloria Porter (Terry), Canning; Deborah Bigelow (Earl Parker), South Rawdon; Cheri Dandurand, Edmonton; brothers, Eugene Manley, Wayne Manley and Reg Manley. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
