Maria Bardina (vanden Bosch) VanDommelen

Maria Bardina (vandenBosch) VanDommelen - age 86, of Port Williams, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in Wolfville Nursing Home, following a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease. As newlyweds, Maria and husband, Anthony, emigrated from Boekel, Netherlands in 1955 through Pier 21, first living in Antigonish before settling in New Minas and later, Port Williams. Maria was a wonderful gardener and knitter and took great pride in her home, until Parkinson’s took away her ability to do what she loved to do. She stayed at home raising her six children and thoroughly enjoyed being an Oma to her grandchildren.  Predeceased by her husband in 2010, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her children, Wilhelmina (Bill) Dickson, Canaan; Caroline Kelly, Falmouth; Jeffrey (Dianne), Dieppe; Sandra (Doug) Holstead, Cole Harbour; Nancy (Mark) VanDommelen, Middleton; Ronnie (Jennifer), Dartmouth; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Robert, Stephanie, David, Christopher, Peter, Maria, Ryan, Rebecca, Katie, Ben, Georgia and seven great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by the family’s request. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Deacon Dave Hasler officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Maria’s family would like to thank the staff of Wolfville Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion given to Maria over the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wolfville Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
