POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT - David Gerard "Dave" MacKenzie

** Please be advised that the casual celebration of life for David MacKenzie is postponed until a later date to be announced, due to health concerns surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic.**

David Gerard "Dave" MacKenzie - age 66, of the North Mountain in Aylesford, born in Antigonish, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in the leap year on the 29th of February 2020.  Dave was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Johanna MacKenzie, Pomquet; sister, Arlene MacDonald, Antigonish and brother-in-law, David Wellington. He leaves many to celebrate his life including his partner, Lauren (Hammons); son Shane, Cape Sable Island; daughters, Sally-Johanna, Berwick; Myna-Marie, London, ON; step-daughter, Robyn (Hammons), Halifax; grandsons, Rhys and Gavin; brothers, Joseph L. (Sandra), Pomquet; John Terrance, Ottawa; Gary (Melinda), Daggers Woods; Barry (Wanda), Pomquet; Shawn, Pigeon Lake; his sisters, Brenda, Toronto; Cheryl Wellington, Ottawa; Heather, Toronto; Angela (Jack MacLeod), Antigonish; Denise (Gary DeCoste), Tracadie; Tracy (Charles Murphy), Halifax; Claudette (Martin Chisholm), Calgary; brother-in-law Patrick MacDonald, Antigonish and 27 nieces and nephews. Following high school, Dave spent time in both the military and in underground mining; however, he was most recently retired from the oil and gas industry where he had worked most of his life. Dave was well traveled and well respected by his colleagues. He loved to ride his motorcycles, harvest his woodlot and take walks in his woods. He was a self-taught carpenter and enjoyed constructing the various shops and buildings on his property.  Dave was also a comic book collector and an avid sci-fi fan.  He was always ready for a quick comment on the latest offerings by the media giants that he had seen or would like to see. He also loved listening to his music. Dave always had time for a chat and would be ever so grateful for a double/double should you think to bring one. He will be missed. A casual celebration of life for Dave will take place at a later date at a time to be announced. The funeral will take place at 4:00 on the 7th of July, 2020 at the Ste. Croix Church, 1148 Pomquet Monks Head Rd., Antigonish NS B2G 2L4.  Luncheon after the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
