Brian Donald Sutherland

We are saddened to announce the passing of our Dad, Brian Donald Sutherland, on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a lengthy illness. Born on March 8, 1944 in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Donald and Vivian (Stillwell) Sutherland. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia Anne "Pat" (Warden) Sutherland. In his early days Dad was an avid sports enthusiast, playing basketball, baseball and hockey. He had been a member of the Kentville Knights of Columbus where he had volunteered many hours of his time. For over 45 years Dad worked as an Optician for several optical companies including operating his own in the Kingston / New Minas area. He is survived by sons, Scott (Bobby), Dartmouth; Jason (Kelly), Centreville; grandchildren, Bronwyn, Halifax; Blake and Sarah, Centreville; sisters-in-law, Kaye Nichols, Kentville; Jill (Jamie) Kitchen, New Minas; Linda Warden, Saint John; nephews, Lars and Greg Nichols, Kentville; niece, Ali (Ross) Copp, Whitby, ON; extended family, Kathy Purcell and Shawna Young, New Minas. We would like to thank Dr. Gena Dickson for the compassionate care she gave Dad in his final days as well as nurses, Alissa, Deanna and Mackenzie. There will be a private graveside service for Mom and Dad at a later date. Donations in memory can be made to the Kings County SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
