Christopher Hugh Rupert Long

Christopher Hugh Rupert Long - age 71, it is with broken hearts that we announce that our husband, father and grandfather, passed away in Valley Regional Hospital on Friday, March 27, 2020. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 52 years, Sandra (Pineo) Long. He is survived by his children, Angie Pitre (Ron) Edmonton, AB and Kirk, Gaspereau; four grandchildren- Hunter Pitre, Tyler Pitre, Madison Long and Hayden Long; brother, Phillip (Geneva) Long, New Minas and sister-in-law, Zelma (Kenneth), Sunken Lake. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Ada Long and brother Kenneth Long. Chris was a graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce. He was a very successful entrepreneur and businessman who operated the family sawmill, Clifford Long & Sons Ltd. for 50 plus years alongside his father and brother, Ken. He was a dedicated volunteer of Kentville Minor Hockey for many years, serving as Vice-President, as well as sponsoring and managing a Minor Junior A Men’s Hockey Team. He had a great sense of humour and loved teasing his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his many nieces and nephews. There will be no service at this time. If our husband/dad ever touched your life, please remember him in the privacy and safety of your own home with a root beer in a frosted mug from the freezer; a hot dog with pan-fried onions and a cold pepsi or coke; a piece of apple pie or lemon meringue pie (the apple pie served with a slice of Velveeta cheese of course) or play some Roy Orbison or Johnny Cash. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We will love and miss you always. You have earned a beautiful and peaceful rest. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
