Carolyn Marie Durling

1960-2020

Carolyn Marie (Steele) Durling, age 59, of Coldbrook, passed away on April 7, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville she was a daughter of Donna (Benjamin) Joudrey of Cambridge and the late Milton Steel. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Durling; daughter, Maria Durling (Dustin) of Cornwallis; siblings, Burnell Steele of Kentville and Audrey Steele Nickerson (Peter) of High River, Alberta. Carolyn began working with Scotian Gold in Coldbrook, before moving to Alberta where she started her own janitorial business. She was also employed as a superintendent of an apartment complex in Edmonton, Alberta. Carolyn returned to Nova Scotia where her experience and strong work ethic presented her with a number of employment opportunities. She was employed with Grandville’s Friendly Cleaners in Coldbrook, the Superstore in New Minas and most recently as an associate with Walmart in New Minas  for the last 14 years. Carolyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother; the family is deeply grieved by her untimely passing. In addition to her father, Milton Steele, she was also predeceased by her stepfather, Delbert Joudrey. A private graveside service will be held in the Scotts Bay Union Cemetery, Scotts Bay. Licentiate Joe Gosbee officiating. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
