Douglas Murray Johnstone

Douglas Murray Johnstone - age 72, of Kentville passed away April 12, 2020 in Valley Regional Hospital with loving wife, Ruby and step-daughter, Sarah at his side with telephone and face timing from other family members because of Covid 19, who were not able to be there. He was the son of the late Amy (Brown) Johnstone and Herbert Johnstone. He is survived by wife Ruby Rose (McGee) Johnstone; step-daughter, Sarah Davidson; his only sister, Dorothy May Johnstone of New Minas; niece, Penny Spencer (Colin Harcourt) of Alberta; nephews, Robert (Leanne) Spencer of Alberta; Glen (Judy) Spencer of Alberta and Matthew (Anna Marie) Spencer of New Minas; many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Doug grew up on Greenfield Mountain, NS with grandparents, Charles and Nellie Brown (deceased). He loved the mountain, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6 Kentville, where he worked on the poppy campaign, enjoyed playing crib, mixed darts and worked with the Ladies Auxiliary on banquets and anything else they wanted done. He worked at ACA, cutting wood for many years and was employed with Stirlings Ltd., retiring with 30 years service. He enjoyed going to ticket auctions, yard sales and flea markets. We would like to thank Valley Regional Hospital for the care he received from the ICU, Medical A and Palliative care for the 40 days he was there. He has been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
