Joyce Eyvonne Pineo

1938 - 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Joyce Eyvonne (Young) Pineo on April 20, 2020 at the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Avon Young and Rose (Sawler) MacGowan and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Joyce worked various jobs in her younger years, lastly working many years for Ells Bros. Limited. Always a hard worker, she was perhaps best known for her role as wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. This is where she truly excelled and there was nothing more important to her than her love of family. Joyce loved gardening and tending to her rose bushes, card games, family get togethers, all things Christmas and baking. If you were lucky enough to have had her apple pie you would not soon forget it. She loved being a home-maker and there was nowhere more welcoming than sitting in her kitchen by the wood stove, having tea or coffee. It was a safe haven in the worst of life's storms. Joyce is survived by daughters, Donna Pineo (Donald Misener), Sheffield Mills; Stephanie (Jonathan) Smith, Greenwood; sons, Lloyd Pineo, Black River and Timothy (Tammy) Pineo, Centreville; grandchildren, Kiersten, Dana, Shay, Chelsea, Ty, Shelby, Shauna-Lynn, Jeremy and Dylan; step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brittany; great grandchildren, Bailey, Alexis, Brody, Braeh, Dailyh, Avah and Addisyn; special niece, Jo-Anne Bezanson. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Gerald Pineo; infant son Matthew; brothers, Douglas and Avon Young; sisters, Betty Lockhart, Pauline Keddy and Thelma (in infancy). A very special thank you to all the men and women at Evergreen Home for Special Care who provided such wonderful care and love to our mother during her time there. We are forever grateful for the support that both she and our family have received throughout her stay. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020 in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Evergreen Home for Special Care.
