Eunice Violet "Ducky" MacBride

Eunice Violet "Ducky" MacBride – age 89, of Kentville, formerly of Pereaux, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Habitant on September 23, 1930, she was the middle daughter of the late Oran and Bertha (Cogswell) Ells. Mom was a hairdresser before she became a wife and a stay at home mother to her four children. She picked up her life every few years and followed Dad off to Port Clyde, Saint John, NB; Long Pond, NL and Mount Pearl, NL. Over the years she worked in the fall at the Graves Plant in Hillaton, picked strawberries and helped with the u-pick field for the family then her son. Mom was a volunteer at the Glooscap Arena Canteen, Glooscap Elementary School Breakfast Program, Canning Fire Department and Heart and Stroke campaign. She is survived by her children, Susan (Randy) Wood, Centreville; Blaine (Janice), Pereaux; Nikki (Mike) Croft, Kingston and Polly Dee (Steve) Muise, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Threna (Hans) Burghardt, Dennis (Christine) Muise, Nicole Muise-Tanner, Sarah (Derek) Croft, Sherri (Mike) Croft, Megan (Innes) MacBride and Laura (Cory) MacBride; great grandchildren, Kohl and Broc Burghardt, Brenden, Kaydence, Zayden Tanner and Paul MacBride. She is also survived by her sister, Jennie Rausch and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, mom was predeceased by her husband, Lum (Elmer) and sister, Minnie "Bunnie" MacNeily. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Mom’s family doctor, Dr. Susan Hergett, VON - New Minas, EMS - Bridgewater, Dr. Heather Robertson and the special nurses that took great care of mom at the South Shore Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place under the direction of White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Due to Covid–19 there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA, Kidney Foundation or a charity of your choice.
