Rosella Mary "Rose" McCann

Rosella Mary "Rose" (Pomeroy) (Caul) McCann - 92, of New Minas, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 29, 1927 in Great Paradise, NL, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Jane (Hann) Pomeroy. She was the oldest living resident of Great Paradise and was proud to be from Newfoundland. Rose spent the greater part of her life in Stephenville, NL, where she raised her family and was involved in many community activities in the area. Mom will be lovingly remembered as the family matriarch, for her beauty, her quick wit, her humour and her unconditional love for her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be forever missed. She is survived by four daughters, Jane Churchill (Don), New Minas; Maureen (Paul) Abbott, Port au Port, NL; Charlotte (Paul) Benjamin, Sheffield Mills; Sharon Caul, New Minas; two sons, Philip Caul, Kippens, NL; Michael Caul (Roxanne), Point au Mal, NL; nine grandchildren, Kelly Abbott, Janine Abbott, Damien Churchill, Tara Osmond, Justin Hopkins, T.J. Doucette, Krista Skerry, Melissa MacDonald and Ashley Scott; eight great grandchildren, Madison, Alexis, Isabella, Kyle, Casey, Kinsley, Avaleigh and Jonathan; sister-in-law, Mary Pomeroy, Fort McMurray, AB; many nieces and nephews. Rose was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Philip Caul; her second husband, William "Barry" McCann; infant twin daughter, Loretta; eight sisters; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Lionel Churchill. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A private funeral service will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery - Columbarium, Kentville. A public funeral service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
