Edna "Josephine" Atwell

Edna "Josephine" (Gee) Atwell - age 91, of Kentville, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Keddy) Gee. Josephine worked at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville for many years until her retirement and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Kings Branch No. 6 - Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her sons, Douglas Corbin of Kentville; David (Linda) Atwell of New Minas and Walter Atwell (Lyndse Prime) of Kentville; daughters, Penny (Gary) Corbin of Kentville; Lori (Bernard) Raghubeer of Toronto, ON and Cathy Atwell (Danny Kynock) of Kentville; sister, Barbara Moore of Kentville; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews, including her special niece and friend, Josephine Swinamer and the many extended family members that called her "Nanny Apple". In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, John Corbin and Dempsey Atwell; brothers, Leonard, William, George and Joseph; sisters, Dorothy Carter, Mona Graves and Emily Gee. There will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020 in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
