Carthel Lillian Illsley

Carthel Lillian Illsley – age 87, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital Kentville. Born in Steam Mill, she was a daughter of the late George and Bernice (Rockwell) Young. Carthel attended Mack Business College and was first employed with T.P. Calkins, as a bookkeeper. She worked at Evergreen Home for Special Care from 1980 until her retirement. She was a member of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary from 1986 until the Auxiliary retired. She was also a member of the Bethany Memorial Baptist Church in Aldershot. In her earlier years, she enjoyed going to Ironbound Island to spend time with family. She loved live music, card parties and any event with food and socialization. She is survived by daughter, Georgina (Eric) Sawler; sons, John (Roberta) Illsley, Joe (Dawn) Illsley; five grandchildren, Dominic (Kim) Worrall, Jordan (Emma) Illsley, Devan (Randi) Illsley, Erin (Ryan) Grézaud, Kelsey Illsley; four great grandchildren, Noah, Ava, Reya and Jackson, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Jerry Neily and Jane Davidson. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A webcast of the service will be available at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2020. Donations in memory may be made to the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department or Bethany Memorial Baptist Church.
